In the early 1990s, the renowned tomb explorer Hu Bayi, his close friend Wang Kaixuan, and Hu’s fiancée Shirley Yang decide to leave their adventurous past behind and settle in Manhattan. However, their tranquil lives take an unexpected turn when Wang Kaixuan becomes entangled in a lucrative deal to locate the ancient tomb of a Mongolian princess. Meanwhile, Hu Bayi is haunted by recurring nightmares of his first love, Ding Sitian, who was believed to have perished two decades earlier in an underground tomb beneath the vast Mongolian plains.

The trio, once thought to have disbanded, finds themselves irresistibly drawn back into the world of tomb exploration by the enigmatic and seemingly sinister businesswoman and cult leader, Ying Caihong.
