A pirate named Burger Beard obtains a magical book that can make any written text real. The book tells the story of SpongeBob SquarePants, who works at the Krusty Krab in Bikini Bottom, cooking Krabby Patties and protecting the secret formula from his rival, Plankton.

Plankton steals the formula, and Bikini Bottom falls into chaos without Krabby Patties. SpongeBob and Plankton team up to retrieve the formula.
