In a post-apocalyptic wasteland, Max Rockatansky, a haunted survivor with a troubled past, is captured and imprisoned by the warlord Immortan Joe at his Citadel. Max becomes a “blood bag” for a sick War Boy named Nux. Meanwhile, Imperator Furiosa, one of Joe’s trusted lieutenants, goes on a mission to trade goods for resources. However, she secretly smuggles Joe’s five wives away in her heavily armored “War Rig.”

When Joe discovers the escape, he leads his army in relentless pursuit, enlisting the help of allies from Gas Town and the Bullet Farm.
