The Revenant is a 2015 American epic survival western film directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu and written by Mark L. Smith and Iñárritu. It is based on Michael Punke’s 2002 novel of the same name, which is a fictionalized account of frontiersman Hugh Glass. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as Glass, with Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson, Will Poulter, and Forrest Goodluck in supporting roles.

The film is set in the American wilderness in the early 19th century. Hugh Glass is a fur trapper who is left for dead by his companions after being mauled by a grizzly bear. Glass survives and embarks on a perilous journey to seek revenge on the man who betrayed him.
