Ella is a kindhearted young woman who is forced to live as a servant to her cruel stepmother and stepsisters after her father dies. One day, the king announces a royal ball to find a princess for his son, the prince. Ella dreams of attending the ball but is forbidden by her stepfamily. However, with the help of her fairy godmother, Ella is able to transform herself into a beautiful princess and attend the ball.

At the ball, Ella and the prince fall in love, but she must leave before midnight when the magic spell will wear off. She loses one of her glass slippers on her way out, but the prince is determined to find the mystery woman who fits the shoe.
