In “Train to Busan,” the protagonist Seok-woo, a distant father and workaholic, decides to accompany his daughter Su-an on her birthday trip to Busan after feeling guilty for missing important events in her life. As they board the train, they encounter various passengers, including Sang-hwa and his pregnant wife, a high school baseball team, elderly sisters, and a homeless man. However, chaos ensues when a zombie outbreak occurs, rapidly spreading throughout the train.

The survivors barricade themselves in different train cars as they learn of the epidemic engulfing the country. Seok-woo, Sang-hwa, and Yong-guk fight to reunite with their loved ones amidst the chaos.
